My uncle is trying to connect all of our laptops to his wireless Deskjet printer but when I go to add printer, in the list of drivers and whatnot, the deskjet series that he has will not show up in the listing. I clicked Windows update and still nothing. Is there a way around this or a way to add the printer where it will connect to the laptop without doing this? He downloaded the driver and software already from the HP website but it wants to do this again within the control panel, if I’m describing that correctly. Any tips?
Yes and it’s not as hard as it sounds.
Just go to the printer’s website and look for a link to the manufacturer’s drivers. Locate the specific model and download that driver software to a flash drive or some portable media. Just used that media to load the drivers onto your laptop.

There was a hp deskjet printer at Walmart on sale and I only have a laptop. Are they able to print things from the laptop?
Most likely Yes. Most, if not all printers have a USB port for connection anymore, so that’s not really the big issue that others seem to think it is. The biggest concern you have to be aware of is if it’s compatible with the operating system you’re using. I.E. if you have Windows 7 or a Mac OS, you need to make sure that the printer has drivers that properly support the operating system that your computer is using, otherwise it will not work or you’ll have to figure out a work-around to try to get it to work correctly.
