What well known printer manufacturer would have the cheapest black ink cartridges?

April 22nd, 2013 5 comments

We had a HP Deskjet and getting an Epson Stylus tomorrow. From what we can see Epson cartridges are cheaper than the HP ones? But what about all the others, how do they compare price wise? I’m talking genuine ink cartridges not cheaper "compatible" or refurbished ones. Thanks.

Kodak claims to have the cheapest ink cartridges for inkjet printers, my friend, though I have no personal experience of Kodak printers.

How can I get that picture of the ink cartridges to display automatically each time I print?

April 21st, 2013 2 comments

I have a new Compaq pc, that came with Vista Basic already installed, and an HP deskjet D1420 printer .

On my older Gateway pc a picture of the 2 cartridges would appear as the page was printing, letting me see how much ink was left in the color & black cartridges.

How can I get this picture of the cartridges to display on my new pc, so I can see the level of ink remaining?

You should be able to change your display options by doing the following:

1
On the Windows taskbar, click Start .
2
Click Programs or All Programs , click HP , and then click HP Solution Center .
3
In HP Solution Center , click Settings , click Print Settings

what is the difference between Hp deskjet and officejet?

What is the difference between hp deskjet and officejet?
some told me that officejet is used with huge jops
some told me that officejet can be used for sublimation

The officejet series is for Business and can handle big jobs. They are also, more expensive. They are either Laser or Ink jet printers (not sublimation).

How to make printer print full black text?

April 18th, 2013 2 comments

Printer is HP deskjet 3500. Only black ink cartridge (c8727) is installed. I want to print a PDF where the text is medium gray. When it prints the text is too light to read. How can I get the printer to print the text as black so I can read it? Computer is a Dell 3000 with XP home.

Unless you can edit the PDF and change the font colour you can’t.

How to solve problem with HP Deskjet D2460 rapidly blinking lights?

April 16th, 2013 2 comments

I have an HP Deskjet D2460 that keeps on blinking really fast and does not respond or print, I tried to unplug and plug but it still keeps blinking. I didn’t plug the USB cable yet so it doesn’t have anything to do with the computer or USB connection.

Isn’t there an error message shown? Could be a paper jam or no ink no one can say for sure without see the error message or printer. Heck try plugging in the USB cable and see if that works worth a try.

question about using hp deskjet 3744 printer to print pictures?

April 14th, 2013 1 comment

I have no idea about this photo ink cartridges thing. Can someone please explain like how many cartridges should be used when printing photos? I mean there should be a colour cartridge and a black cartridge too right?

Also, will HP Deskjet 3744 will produce quality pictures?

There is only two cartridges that you can use with this printer. The black cartridge is #27 and the color cartridge is #28. There is no special photo cartridge for this printer, because this printer is not designed for printing high quality photos.
Yes, you can print some photos, but the qualitiy of them won’t be very good. The photos won’t look as sharp as if you were printing them with a printer designed to print photos.
I would suggest looking at a Photosmart printer by HP or a printer of your choice.

Here’s what I found on HP’s website:
One or more optional photo cartridges may be available, depending on your printer model.
Use the photo cartridge with a tri-color cartridge for best-quality color photos and graphics, and sepia or antique photos.
Choose a gray photo cartridge to print black and white photos with truer grays and richer blacks

How does the self-cleaning function on hp deskjet printers actually work?

April 12th, 2013 2 comments

I am wondering what actually happens each time I do an auto-clean, intermediate clean, and/or prime on my printer. It’s a HP Deskjet 3740. I took it apart to clean it manually since it’s been being very streaky lately, and found two foam-like pads soaked full of ink. Does "auto-clean" merely squirt off some ink in a side compartment or what? How does this work? Thanks in advance!

The foam pads should be soaked in ink. Theyu pick up the excess ink when you have completed a print job, or when you have completed a cleaning.

A print head cleaning works by heating the print head and expelling a small amount of ink and any debris that may be causing a blockage. You should run a print head cleaning every two – three weeks. Intermediate clean and priming the printer are not necessary if you do a basic cleaning. INtermediate clean and prime work just like a basic cleaning, the biggest difference is going to be the ink volume expelled.

How do you reset the printer cartridges for HP Deskjet D1420?

April 10th, 2013 7 comments

I have a HP Deskjet D1420 and I have refilled the cartridges (HP 22 and HP 22). The printer continues to read them as low or empty and will not print properly. Does anyone have a hack to reset the printer or printer cartridges to either read full or not read at all.

If you want to trash your printer, refill your printer cartridges. I have repair printers with refills cartridges, they just leak ink all over the place. Plug up your print head and sometimes you get ink smears because the ink does no dry right. In other words, you do not save any money because you ruin your printer.

Other cheap solution is to purchase out date cartridges, they still work just fine for me. On some printer cartridges have IC which needs reset by special machine when you refill your cartridges.

Is the manufacturer purposely designed the printer cartridge in such a way that prevents the refilling of it?

I am fed up. I had already tried to refill three HP deskjet D2560 black ink cartridges but each time was a complete failure.

For the last time, I really did it very carefully and delicately so as not to damage or dirty the structure and printhead (and follow the instruction thoroughly), but it seems like there are still problems occur.

Is it due to my unskillfulness or one really can’t refill cartridge but to buy a new one?

Thanks in advance.

Yes some manufacturers put a chip in their catridge that sense when it’s empty and tell the printer that it’s now useless, even if you refill it with more ink. I understand that a product is available which will reset this chip that can be used after refilling. I don’t have a reference for a source, but you can do an internet search.
P.S. I’m told that if you add ink before the sensor trips then you can refill them multiple times.
