How can I install a wireless printer to my laptop if the printer series won’t show up in the installation?

July 23rd, 2013 1 comment

My uncle is trying to connect all of our laptops to his wireless Deskjet printer but when I go to add printer, in the list of drivers and whatnot, the deskjet series that he has will not show up in the listing. I clicked Windows update and still nothing. Is there a way around this or a way to add the printer where it will connect to the laptop without doing this? He downloaded the driver and software already from the HP website but it wants to do this again within the control panel, if I’m describing that correctly. Any tips?

Yes and it’s not as hard as it sounds.

Just go to the printer’s website and look for a link to the manufacturer’s drivers. Locate the specific model and download that driver software to a flash drive or some portable media. Just used that media to load the drivers onto your laptop.

Can someone tell me how you change your ink cartirages color and black?

I have a HP Deskjet F 4235 all in one printer, scanner, copier and would like to know how to change out the ink trays, color and black one. I have lost my book on this and have never loaded it. I have a door on the front, and when I open it the tray goes to one end and when I close it and open it again it goes to the other end. Do I have to just reach in there and change them out. They do not come out to the front of printer. Help please.

When you loaded the printer you would have had a cd that installed the drivers etc. – It usually installs help files that show these things –
Look at the programs and see if that is listed – If not, then in control panel and click on your printer and follow the trail to the instructions –

Okay, right now i have a Deskjet2360 and it doesn’t come on the list when i tried to add my printer on to the computer so my printer could be reconzied. How do i add the Deskjet D2360 printer so it could be reconized on the computer? The printer Deskjet is NOT on the list to add the printer from the control panel. So, if anybody could answer this question, 30 POINTS!! PLZ HELP ME!! FULL ANSWERS!

If you are using Windows XP in your computer, follow this HP installation guide:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=1100995&docname=c01796496

WinXP does not have the model listed in its available drivers in its installer, so you either use the CD provided with the printer or download a driver from the HP website.

How to get my printer back online?

December 2nd, 2012 4 comments

I have a HP Deskjet printer; here is an image which should show what model printer it is or whatever:

All it says is that the status of my printer is ‘offline’, I have tried to reinstall drivers but it hasn’t worked and nothing will print out.

What is the cause of this and is there any way to fix it?

Thanks people!

If the other solutions above (or below me) have not worked, and this is was not written by someone else yet, do this:

1. Start–>Control Panel–>View network status and tasks
2. In upper right, click on see full map [of network connections]
3. Look and find your printer. If it is not "mapped", click on it
4. For me, it automatically started installing a driver and it said yay you are good to go (well, it didn’t say that exactly)
5. Check your device and printers. Now, for me, it has a different name now (mine was hp officjet 4500 g510n-z but when I did the above, it turned into H54984516941(HP officjet 4500 g510n-z)
6. Click on it as default printer. Now try a test print.

It should work! If not…sorry…

BTW: That printer offline thing from the first answer did work for me once and it has worked for others in the past (acc. to my extensive research on how to fix my printer that I had been conducting for the past 6 months or so). So try that one first before doing my thing 🙂

As to why printers do this…well, I think it just gets "lost" in the connections or it just doesn’t like us, especially if it is a shared printer.

How do I connect a printer to Windows 7?

November 6th, 2012 3 comments

I am running Windows 7 on my new computer. On an older computer on the same subnet I have a HP Deskjet printer. On the new machine I can browse to the older computer and see the printer. The computer and the printer are turned on. When I try to instal the printer on the new computer I get an error, "Windows cannot connect to the printer." Since another computer on the same subnet can communicate with the printer, I am fairly sure that the printer and the older computer are running correctly. Can anyone suggest how to complete the installation?

1.Download the Windows Vista/7 printer driver for the "Your Printer"
2.Install the driver on your Windows Vista computer. During installation, you’ll be prompted to connect the printer to your computer. Choose the option to proceed with installation without connecting the printer.
3.After installation completes, open the Printers applet from the Windows Vista Control Panel.
4.Right-click on the new "Your Printer" and choose Properties.
5.Go to the Ports tab.
6.Click Add Port…, select Local Port, then click New Port…
7.For the port name, enter exactly the network path and share name of your printer (e.g. \\RECEPTION\Your Printer Series).
8.Click OK, and double-check that this new port is selected with the checkbox next to it.
9.Click OK to close the printer properties.
