How to solve problem with HP Deskjet D2460 rapidly blinking lights?

April 16th, 2013 2 comments

I have an HP Deskjet D2460 that keeps on blinking really fast and does not respond or print, I tried to unplug and plug but it still keeps blinking. I didn’t plug the USB cable yet so it doesn’t have anything to do with the computer or USB connection.

Isn’t there an error message shown? Could be a paper jam or no ink no one can say for sure without see the error message or printer. Heck try plugging in the USB cable and see if that works worth a try.

How do I fix my printer?

I have a HP Deskjet printer, and the lights just keep blinking. It will not do anything else. Anyone know how I can fix this?

Couple things… Take all of the paper out of the feeder. Then, open up the printer and make sure there isn’t a paper jam anywhere. Make sure there’s no crumpled up piece of paper or anything getting in the way. If there doesn’t appear to be anything stuck, close the printer back up, and turn it off. After a few seconds, turn the printer back on. Effectively, you’ve reset the printer. You know that there is no paper jam or anything that appears to be wrong with the printer. There’s no paper in the printer, so it can’t be a sensor issue or something, etc.. Load the paper back into the feeder, and see if it will print now.

If resetting the printer doesn’t work, now that we’ve established that there can’t be anything else wrong with it, there’s a good chance that it’s a hardware issue, or something’s actually wrong with the printer.

If it’s just a cheap desktop printer, that’s not even surprising. Nowadays, those desktop printers are so cheap, (often times you get them for free after a mail-in rebate or something ridiculous) that I’d recommend just getting a new one as opposed to having someone look at the printer and try to fix it.

Good luck.
